What is it?
Breast reconstruction, the resizing and shaping of breasts after a mastectomy, may rely on several approaches. Initially, tissue expanders are inserted surgically and filled over time during a series of out-patient visits.

A second procedure may be performed to insert a breast implant. Since implants and expanders are subject to wear, there is a high probability of future revisionary surgery.

Dr. Iacono uses techniques including

  • tissue expanders
  • musle transfer - performed most often (latissmus dorsi)
  • immediate and delayed breast reconstruction

What does it help & not help?

Helps with:

  • restoring the appearance of the breast after a masectomy

How long will it last?
Since implants and expanders are subject to wear, there is a high probability of future revisionary surgery.
