What is it?
Reduction Mammoplasty, or Breast Reduction, is usually performed to relieve back, neck and shoulder pain, and skin irritation that women with large breasts sometimes experience, as well as to enhance the appearance of the breast. The best candidates for this procedure are those who are mature enough to understand and have realistic expectations about the results.

The technique used by Dr. Iacono is mostly McKissick and Modification of Ribiro Technique. Incisions and subsequent scarring are minute. Nipples are not detached and rarely is nipple grafting performed.

Only a small amount of breast tissue is surgically removed. A major portion of the surgery is done by liposuction, which is essential to effective reshaping of the breast and to minimize scarring.

A reduction mammoplasty, as required by insurance companies, includes removal of 500 grams of tissue from each breast. Otherwise, the procedure is considered to be cosmetic.

What does it help & not help?

A Breast Reduction usually helps with:

  • physical discomfort due to large breasts e.g. neck, back and shoulder pain
  • skin irritation due to large breasts
  • breast size in proportion to rest of body size

How long will it last?
The duration of results depends on a variety of factors including the age, weight, and overall health of the patient.
