What is it?
Septoplasty is nasal surgery to correct breathing problems caused by a deviated septum which obstructs the nasal airways. Septoplasty may be performed with or without reshaping of the nose and other cosmetic procedures.

Septoplasty by itself will improve breathing but when the septum is markedly deviated, improved appearance will be a secondary benefit.

What does it help & not help?

Usually helps with:

  • breathing

Will not help with:

  • nose appearance (except in extreme cases)

How long will it last?
Septoplasty is typically permanent.

Surgical Considerations
Septoplasty is performed under anesthesia in an accredited outpatient surgery center or hospital. It is postoperatively painless and usually does not result in black and blue marks or swelling of the face.
